Timo Hiltunen to become Fonecta’s CEO
The aim of the renewed strategy is a more cohesive Fonecta
The person at the helm of the contact information company Fonecta will change in the New Year. The company’s current deputy CEO, Timo Hiltunen (43), starts as the new CEO on 1 January 2008. Under Hiltunen’s leadership Fonecta’s strategy has been renewed and the aim of the strategy is to create a more cohesive and effective Fonecta.
Timo Hiltunen started as Fonecta’s deputy CEO in March of the current year. He has worked in the contact information sector for nearly 20 years. Before Fonecta, he worked on the Board of Directors of the Norwegian directory company Findexa and Interinfo, which operates in the Baltic countries, and as a consultant. From 1997–2005 Hiltunen was involved in setting up and managing Inoa, which provides company information. Fonecta bought Inoa in 2005.
“Fonecta has a fantastic five years behind it. We have carried out 33 successful business and company acquisitions and the company’s turnover has almost tripled. Fonecta’s services are used to search for contact details 1.5 million times per day and nearly everyone in Finland uses our company's services. Ahead of us is the next strategic development phase, and I believe that Timo Hiltunen is the best person to guide Fonecta forward," says Fonecta's current CEO Heikki Jämsänen.
Timo Hiltunen’s goal is to turn Fonecta into a company from which consumers can get all the contacts and contact information services they need exactly when they want. Fonecta’s products and services are being more closely integrated with one another. They will still function independently, but closer to the Fonecta brand. The strategic priority is in developing online and mobile services.
“Fonecta’s business is on an extremely strong footing and we are the clear market leader in the contact information sector in Finland. In future, the constantly changing needs of consumers will increasingly control growing markets. We offer consumers up-to-date online, mobile and directory content that is unmatched and help them get in contact, make purchases and decisions. At the same time, we can offer companies effective marketplaces popular with users, in which advertisers can get the best return for their investment," explains Timo Hiltunen.
Heikki Jämsänen invited to join European Directories SA
Heikki Jämsänen, who has been at the helm of Fonecta since it was established in 2002, will work after the change for Fonecta's parent company, European Directories SA (EDSA).
“Under the leadership of Heikki Jämsänen, Fonecta has become Finland’s most popular provider of contact information and EDSA’s second largest country subsidiary. EDSA aims to grow more rapidly than its competitors, especially in online services, and Heikki Jämsänen’s experience is needed to attain these challenging objectives,” says Cornel Riklin, EDSA Group CEO.
The new strategy also supports Fonecta’s new organisation, which will be unveiled before the end of the year.
